Interview: Vintage Lollipops!

bella-interview1
A large thank you goes out to Bella of Vintage Lollipops for letting me interview her here in my WordPress! :-)

-What is your name? Bella Harris

-How long have you been blogging and what influenced it?

I started Vintage lollipops in mid August of 2008 with very intermittent postings, and at the time, the idea really hadn’t manifested a true blogspot desire.  Although, having and hopefully maintaining a general readership has definitely increased the updates tenfold.

As a writer, I strive it, and am always eager to reach broad appeal with an enthusiastic audience… so I couple that with my love for style, hoping for a candid and individualized representation of my daily musings.

-Your blog has rapidly grown in popularity. Any tips? Secrets?

Honestly, I’m always pleasantly staggered by popularity and admiration, which has been such a welcomed response surpassing all initial expectations.  But I think it’s important to give feedback, respond to comments, follow blogs, and genuinely take interest in those who construct your readership.  I mean, I love hearing from my fellow bloggers, and the interconnection cyberspace affords us is just an incredible experience.  While they’re always coming up aces, it’s exciting to see what they bring to the daily table.

-How old are you?

Safely said, I’m almost 30-ish.

-What’s your favorite dessert?

Hands down, I’m no stranger to this self-exalted sweet tooth, and I’d have to say…  Starbucks expensive latte concoctions.  But I do like to have my cake and eat it too.

On The Hills (MTV) I’m most like (insert character here) because:

Hmmm (insert timid contemplation), my career ambitions are slightly gold-dipped, so with Lauren’s maverick to mogul swagger and Audrina’s artsy rocker vibes, I’m probably a sideways recipe of the two.  If I had to pick…

-Quick: Which bloggers do you most want to meet in person? Why? And what would you like to do?

Is this a trick question?  I’d be stoked to meet any of my fellow bloggers.  I imagine it’d be a sick party of happy chaos, clothes swapping, and insane amounts of camerwhoring.

-Your occupations is:

I’m a writer.

-What sways you most when making a purchase?

Besides my mother hauntingly chanting, “You can’t live without those can you?”

She’s definitely the little devil perched on my right shoulder.  And I’m terribly guilty of impulse buying, but do look for longevity, offbeat, and iconic pieces with any purchase I pursue.  If I can’t find it, then I convince myself that through stylistic inspiration, I’ll be capable of wardrobe reinvention.  But it doesn’t need to be trendy for me to garb myself in it.  I need dirty glamour, the elemental vibes of vintage recovery and neo-trashy 80’s, a splash of gothic romanticism, and then smother me with jewelry and call it a day.

-The 3 bloggers who influence you most are:

I’m thinking it’d be virtually impossible to narrow my blogger influence down to only three people.  There’s so many I draw inspiration from, but admit I’m a fan of street styles, fashion creativity, and interesting photography.

-These 4 songs changed your life. Name them.

I’ve never met a song that actually changed my life, but give me ACDC, Scissor Sisters, Lady Sovereign, iio, and a dousing of 80’s pop revival any day. I’m a little old school in that department.

-Guilty pleasure. Name one.

Shoes.  I have a thing for savage kicks… there’s probably some sort of clinical treatment for this type of daunting infatuation, and I’ll stick this mantra until someone convinces me otherwise.  It’s the almighty Shoe God’s dirty little secret.

-What magazines do you read?

Nylon, French Vogue, and copious amounts of literary reviews, especially those with my name of the pages.

-How tall are you?

5’7″ without 5″ vaults.

What do you think of my blog?

The kingdom of blogs is such an impactful and influential society in the many ways we meld creativity and then allow others to be a part of it.  I think we’re all curious of one another, streaming with fluid inspiration and fashion voyeurism.  Conducting spotlight interviews serves as such an amazing opportunity to show others what we really have to offer.  So obviously, you rock!

-Favorite Models? Celebs?

Definitely Gwyneth Paltrow as Margot Tenenbaum.  I mean she’s a quirky prodigy playwright with ridiculously flawless style… it doesn’t get any better.

-Famous words to live by?

My favorite quote to date:  “A person will sometimes devote all his life to the development of one part of his body; the wishbone.”  Robert Frost
